By seeding and nurturing entrepreneurial learning, we seek to foster the continued growth of the mindsets and support structures that enable innovators and technologists to transform green ideas into game-changing clean technology companies. We believe that our leadership in the Michigan Green Technology Entrepreneurship Academy initiative represents one of the most direct paths to empowering local cleantech innovators, and is just one way in which we are helping further strengthen Michigan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Michigan Green Technology Entrepreneurship Academy (MIGTEA) began as an innovative, intensive course designed as a springboard for moving new cleantech ideas out of the university lab. Huron River Ventures co-hosted the first MIGTEA event in Grand Rapids, Michigan in July 2011. The event was a resounding success. We were inspired (at the insistence of the program’s first graduating class) to expand the Michigan GTEA concept into a durable network of resources, coaching, and connections, as well as future events. Our involvement in the MIGTEA movement continues and we look forward to supporting the diffusion of entrepreneurial expertise and exchanges well into the future.
